HIKES IN THE SANTA SUSANA PASS STATE HISTORIC PARK AND THE LOCAL AREA

AT SANTA SUSANA PASS STATE HISTORIC PARK

Park Address: 22400 Devonshire St.; Chatsworth, CA 91311

Refer to FPSSM website for upcoming hike schedule

or facebook page Friends of the Santa Susana Mountains

Organized and led by Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park (SSPSHP) volunteers.

Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park Interpretive hike leaders:

Dale Chaloukian, Marc Davidson, Elizabeth Harris

John Luker, Teena Takata, Peter Ullrich

Wear sunscreen and long pants because the brush is thick and sticky. A light jacket or long-sleeved shirt is also recommended. Although we try to avoid poison oak, sometimes it is encountered. Wear sturdy hiking boots. A walking stick is preferred by some hikers. Bring plenty of water. A hat is also recommended.

The SSPSHP is primitive – this means that there are no toilets, so please plan accordingly.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome as long as they are on leash. Please remember to bring enough water for your four-legged friend? All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Rain cancels, even light rain. Heat of 95 degrees or more also cancels.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Larwin Street Entrance: Take the 118 Freeway to the Topanga Canyon Boulevard exit. Proceed south on Topanga Boulevard approximately one mile. Turn right (west) on Devonshire.  Proceed half a mile, and turn left on Larwin Avenue which is the last street before Devonshire ends.  The park entrance is on the right under the power lines.  Parking is along the residential street. MAP

Andora Entrance: Take the 118 Freeway to the Topanga Canyon Boulevard exit. Proceed south on Topanga Boulevard approximately one mile. Turn right (west) on Devonshire.  Proceed a half mile until you come to the Oak Wood Cemetery.  Pass the cemetery and the Andora entrance is to the left of the cemetery. Parking is along the residential street. MAP

Lilac Lane Entrance: Take Santa Susana Pass road west from Topanga Canyon road to Lilac Lane.  Turn left.  The entrance to the park is ¼ mile up the road to the left (look for the State Park information kiosk).  Park anywhere in the dirt parking lot (please do not park on the street because there is limited parking for residents).
